Why Oil Is the Most Important Motor Fluid

At Fields Chrysler Jeep® Dodge RAM Sanford, we know what it takes to be the best. While it is important to sell cars and provide our customers with all the automotive services they’re looking for, there is also incredible value in sharing automotive knowledge. As a leading Orlando Chrysler dealership, we believe no piece of information is quite as valuable as the importance of motor oil changes.

Why should I be concerned about oil changes? Well, for starters, your engine is comprised of a wide variety of moving parts. When your engine is running, these parts need to work together, not against each other. Lack of fresh, clean oil inflicts friction, which can cause significant long-term damage to your vehicle. Motor oil reduces this friction and provides the smooth operation of your engine.

How often should you change your motor oil? Our car care experts at Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM recommend that drivers swap out their motor oil once every 3,000 to 5,000 miles to receive optimal results. There are four different kinds of motor oil to keep an eye out for, as each one provides different benefits.

Conventional motor oil is the traditional form of motor oil and can be found in most vehicles. High mileage motor oil is a kind of oil used exclusively by vehicles with at least 75,000 miles or more on their odometer. For performance level engines, we recommend purchasing either full synthetic or synthetic blend motor oil. These synthetic motor oils provide greater lubrication, and as a result, boost the overall performance of your engine. That said, the synthetic blend is the less effective, but far cheaper option, and can even be used in high-mileage vehicles.

Are you looking for an oil change? There’s nowhere better to turn than our Florida Dodge service center. At Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM Sanford, we strive to satisfy all your automotive needs, whether you’re looking for a new car or much-needed maintenance.
