FCA US LLC recently confirmed that the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 will be discontinued in the near future, most likely within the next 18 months. The company’s CEO, Sergio Marchionne, said that production of these vehicles will cease because FCA US LLC has recognized what he referred to as a “permanent shift” away from sedans and toward utility vehicles and pickup trucks in the American market. He cited low gas prices as being at least partly responsible for this trend.

By stopping the production of the Dodge Dart and the Chrysler 200, FCA US LLC will be able to make vehicles that are more popular with American consumers without having to build new manufacturing facilities. It’s likely that the factories that currently produce the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 will be used to make SUVs and trucks instead of cars in the future.

While all of us at Fields Chrysler Jeep® Dodge RAM love the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 and are sad to see them discontinued, we’re excited about the changes FCA US LLC is making. As your central Florida Jeep dealers, we can’t wait to see the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer that’s supposed to be introduced in 2018, for instance. We also can’t wait to see the new Jeep Wrangler that’s supposed to start being produced next year and compare it to everything the 2015 Jeep Wrangler already has to offer.
